There is a special issue of Horizon March 2008 with a focus on Aboriginal youth in Canada… here is the link http://www.policyresearch.gc.ca/doclib/Horizons_Vol10Num1_final_e.pdf. On page 13, there is an Age-Gender Pyramid for Aboriginal and Canadian Populations that shows current populations in Canada and also a projected population for 2026. We find ourselves in interesting and exciting times!

Special thanks to the person who brought this to my attention:)

What is World Leadership Day?

OUR VISION

A world that recognizes, engages and nurtures the expression of the innate leadership in every person.

OUR MISSION

To celebrate World Leadership Day as an annual, growing, international event to inspire, connect and transform leadership thinking and development across the globe.

To inspire processes worldwide to recognize, engage and nurture the innate leadership dimension and leadership skill development in every person to give them the courage and confidence to step into the unknown territory of leadership.

To unite leaders across generations and nations to engage in real meaningful dialogue for collective learning and inspired leadership actions that address the critical issues facing us in the 21st century.

OUR VALUES     Authenticity - Integrity - Contribution

OUR HISTORY

World Leadership Day will be celebrated in Canada for the first time March 20, 2008. World Leadership Day was founded and launched by Elisabeth Gortschacher on 20 March, 2007. The idea of establishing World Leadership Day was born during a discussion with her US publicist, Nancy Mills, in September 2006.

With extensive real-world management experience and a life-long passion and commitment to leadership development, Elisabeth has made the leadership development of employees a priority in every position she has held. Over the past five years authentic leadership development has become the core business of her international coaching and training company.

By founding World Leadership Day, Elisabeth has turned her personal passion into a global initiative to inspire, connect and transform leadership thinking across generations and nations.

Now in its second year, World Leadership Day 2008 will be celebrated concurrently in six countries around the world: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Singapore and South Africa. A conference event with 40 delegates will be held in Sidney, Australia on March 20, 2008.

What inspired World Leadership Day?

Elisabeth Gortschacher from Sydney Australia was searching for a way to recognize leadership in every person and not just the high profile leaders our society recognizes, endorses and celebrates.

Today there is so much talk about leadership, or more precisely the absence of leadership.  Many people are disillusioned with the kind of leadership they experience and are searching for a different kind of leader. And yet we can see leadership abilities in every person.  It is an innate potential we all have that is expressed through our authenticity and uniqueness.

The actual idea of founding World Leadership Day was sparked during a discussion with Elisabeth had with her US publicist, Nancy Mills in September 2006.  She was amazed with all the talk on leadership that no one had thought of creating World Leadership Day before.

What is the Vision of World Leadership Day?

For World Leadership Day to be a yearly, growing international event to inspire – connect – transform leadership thinking and development across the globe.

Inspire processes worldwide that recognize, engage and nurture innate leadership potential and leadership skill development in every person.

Mobilizing “leaders on the ground”

Is there a target audience?

Yes, there is.

The target audience is being determined by our World Leadership Day theme.  For 2008 the theme is ‘Inspire the Youth of the World’ so our target audience are youth and leaders who are doing significant work with youth. AND soon the theme for 2009 will be announced.
