Letting go - before n after
Yesterday I made a promise to myself and Antonia that by noon today I would have an office comparable to the one posted on her new blog "Letting go for better flow" which I will link you to later. Here is a record of my before and after efforts to organize and release energy in my office area.
I have just completed several workshops, presentations and projects. My thinking and materials are still piled high on my desk.
Forty-five minutes later the files are put away and the paper work is sorted. I am ready to start writing an article in tomorrow about Dr. S. Fuller whom I am hosting at the end of June. I do notice though that I still have the rock from my facilitation work for the Pedder Bay community on the windowsill This work is now complete. This rock holds much energy and loss as well as satifaction for a job well done. It no longer needs to be in my office area and can be given a new home in my garden where the rain will wash and cleanse away all of the intense emotions that it holds.
My meditation area and the practice of meditation are integrated into my way of working. The areas are side by side. However, active files have crepted down on top of the old suitcase into my line of vision, and outside on the deck a blanket from is still resting on the bench. The cushions need to be puffed and arranged. All these are distractions to my practice.
Ahhhh... a ring of the bowl and I can begin.
Nothing much needs to be said... I am still not unpacked from returning home on Friday evening. The dresser just collects things.
As I cleaned the dresser I notice that the calendar also needed to be changed to June. I smile.
This area still holds my morning coffee and a visit with my mom while wrapped in the wool blanket she made for me a few years ago. I smile again.
After putting everything else away, I leave the newest two Garden West magazines (the subscription also a gift from my mom) to read beside the seating area.
The areas have now been swept and then whiped with an almond cleaner. I can hear the birds singing outside. I am almost there. The only thing left to do is find a new home for the rock on the windowsill.
Before I go, let me link you to the person who inspired me to organize my work area and let go of what is no longer serving me.
Antonia Hall has a beautiful blog powered by wordpress called Hitting Send - View Through My Lens. She sent out a tweet on twitter about her latest post called "Letting go for better flow." Here is the blog link http://www.hittingsend.com .
When I saw the photo of the beautifully clean working area on her blog, I provided this response "By tomorrow noon my desk is going to look like that! "
Antonia replied "Yay, You!! Excellent! & Thank you so much! Very sweet of you, & much appreciated! Blessings on the process! It feels great! :D"
Now I must send her the link to the blog posting because it is past noon and she will be expecting to hear from me.

Thank you so much, Dear Lady!

p.s. It feels great, right? ;-)
Antonia it is awesome! And thank you again for providing the inspiration:)
I live in a strawbale timberframe home with my partner David. We love it here and remark often about how fortunate we are. I am glad you enjoyed the photos.
all the best, Terrill
I am so excited for you Terrill. I know what that feeling is like, to clear away the non-essentials and have what you need and want right at hand… ideally in a beautiful presentation to the eye and spirit!
I have been doing the same to my home which as you know is my work area also. It's funny how accomplished I feel for having only beauty and function displayed before my eyes at present! I didn't see that coming lol
I feel a lot of the work to come won't really be paperwork… Without being too 'spiritual' I do think lots of it will be from the heart and gut and maybe from experience and memory as well. For sure the best mechanism for bringing our best out is a lovely clear 'working' space [in our brains especially!]
Have a great time expressing in this new space.
Happy happy happy for you!
Best, Sherrilene
Yes, that home is beautiful, and the forest outside helps it to have a wonderful energy even in the 'before' pics! Thanks for sharing, Terrill and for linking to Antonia.
Thanks Sherrilene and Meenakshi…
I am so looking forward to settling down at my desk in the morning to start working on my new projects.
until then Terrill
