Greet each day with openness

Posted on Aug 18th, 2009 by Terrill : Spirit of butterfly Terrill

Today is my first time on Gaia since my partner David had a severe stroke a week ago Sunday, August 9, 2009.

David has begun his recovery but it will be a long process.

Yesterday when I arrived David was eating breakfast by himself (under supervision). I was greeted by one of his big beautiful smiles.

Later on in the morning two physiotherapy people came by and helped him sit on the edge of the bed, then stand up and walk sideways a few steps. They would have taken him for a walk but didn't have an order approved from the Doctor to do so. He will be moving to the 5th floor on the north tower very soon - like maybe tomorrow. This is the rehab floor. He is talking more but sometimes the words don't come out right. He is still a bit confused about dates, names and places. However, it was a good day and he ate a big supper while 3 of his children and I kept him company.

We have a long healing process ahead of us but we are on our way. Here is a video that David and I watched about six weeks ago that does a great job of telling the stroke story. Though each person is unique this is the kind of stroke David had though his is not operable and will need to heal on its own.

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

warm hugs and thank you again to everyone for their kind words, wishes, prayers and reiki.

with openness and gratitude

Each day is precious

each day is precious

Today is my Birthday

I'm celebrating life, love and joy!

Meet me on a Sunny Road

When the Sky catches fire

We shall find a rediscovered love poem

While dancing in the moonlight

near Georgeson Island

and while mother earth crouches

....in the shadows

we learn again and again

Why walk when we can fly!

thank you for joining me in celebrating today

Upside down right and fall offerings

Posted on Aug 31st, 2009 by Terrill : Spirit of butterfly Terrill

With my hands just washed from their stickiness after picking blackberries, I am thinking about fall-times past where I have rolled out my new projects and coaching promotions. This year, unfortunately, will be different. I am viewing the horizon line from a different perspective – somewhat like the woman (my daughter) in this photo taken yesterday on our hike.

Upside down view

My partner David had a severe stroke on August 9, 2009. He is recovering but it is a long process. He will be in rehabilitation for about the next eight weeks and the next year will see us experiencing many changes as he continues his recovery. For those that are interested, here is a link to a blog post about David that I started on August 18, 2009 http://terrill.gaia.com/blog/2009/8/greet-each-day-with-openness (it has been viewed over 500 times and has 87 comments – some of which are updates from me).

As you may appreciate, I will not be doing front-line coaching or consulting this fall. However, if you would like a referral to another coach please let me know. As I have worked in this field for many years, I have a wide range of contacts that provide niche services in a variety of areas.

I am going to continue with my virtual (email) coaching, virtual (website and discussion forums) consulting projects, writing articles and blogs and working on my next book Mona's Work. I will also continue to provide you updates and links about my written work on topics of interest to women leaders.

All the best with your leadership – may you be living your vision with abundance and clarity.

With warm regards,
